Our Story

Shrum's Pest Control has a rich history that spans over seven decades. Our journey began in the 1940s when my grandfather, Gene Shrum, returned from World War II and started his career in the pest control industry. He worked for a large regional pest management company, RD Pest Control, where he quickly earned a reputation as a resident fumigation expert for railroads, shipping companies, and other large commercial clients.

A Family Legacy

My father, Terry Shrum, was a counselor for the Juvenile Court in Portland, Oregon. In 1984, he teamed up with his father to start Shrum's Pest Control. My grandfather's reputation in the Pacific Northwest as a rodent control expert and his commercial business network laid the foundation for the company. As a child, I would often tag along with my grandfather and father as they built the business and worked in the field. What stood out to me then and still does today is their commitment to treating customers with honesty and respect. They would not oversell unnecessary services and would freely share their knowledge and expertise to build trust and remove uncertainty.

A New Generation

As I grew older, I began working summers with my father until I was 18 years old. After that, I sat for and received both my Pesticide Applicator and Operator licenses from the states of Oregon and Washington. At the age of 22, I began taking on a more active role in the back office operations of the company.

Kelly Shrum, Owner & President

As a licensed pesticide applicator and operator in the states of Oregon and Washington, Kelly oversees all aspects of the business, including compliance and technical training. In his spare time, Kelly enjoys exploring and rockcrawling in the jeeps with his family and participating in his children's sports activities.

Holli Shrum, Chief Operations Officer

Holli is the "Voice of the Company" and is responsible for all scheduling and oversees all operations, including back office administration and billing. In her free time, Holli is at the center of her family's busy sports schedules.
